John Mahama in an interview with Eric Ahianyo on TV XYZ in the morning of Saturday, 5th September, 2020 throws a second debate challenge to the president, Nana Addo.

John Mahama revealed this when he was asked by the interviewer a question that, the president has reacted to John Mahama’s support of calling Akyem as ‘’sakawa boys and grandpa must go’’. This has come as a result of the Agyapa deal brouhaha, after CSOs and major stakeholders have kicked against the deal. Hon. Adongo who is a member of parliament on the side of minority wrote that, the deal is a fraudulent one and those who are engaging in it are engaging in ‘’sakawa’, so the deal must be dropped.

Mahama in response to the question asked by the interviewer, stated that, he is not calling the Akyems ‘’sakawa’’ boys, but referring to Adongo’s writeup about those who are engaging in such a fraudulent deal which will cost Ghana a lot. John Mahama also added, he will be the last person to engage in such a tribal name calling and he does not support anything to the regards. John Mahama earlier said he will not respect the deal if he wins the election.

” What I remember is, I shared a post of one of our very fine and brilliant MPs for Bogatanga Central, that is Hon. Adongo who described a certain people in Akufo Addo’s government as ”Akyem sakawa boys”. I will be the last person to disparage any tribe/ethnic group. In first place, my national chairman is an Akyem, the head of our manifesto committee is an Akyem, so how can i make such a general comment. I can understand president Akufo Addo’s frustration, desperation and deliberate attempt to whip-up ethnic sentiment in this particular case”

He went further, to say, that is the main reason why he is challenging the president to debate him, so that, whatever is not clear to him they will settle it once and for all, for Ghanaians to know what the two of them have offered then and can offer if given the second chance to him Mahama or Nana Addo.

Mahama earlier throwed a challenge to the president to debate him, if they have claimed to perform than him in terms of infrastructure development and other sectors, after the NPP has launched a delivery tracker site to list the infrastructure achievements of the NPP. At the ceremony Dr. Bawumia said, the NPP has done better in infrastructure done Mahama, as he Mahama has always been saying he has invested massively in infrastructure development.

Are we going to see the president accept the second debate challenge?
