John Mahama arrives at supreme court as hearing of election petition begins today


The presidential candidate of the NDC, John Mahama arrives at Ghana’s supreme court this morning as the hearings on the 2020 presidential election petition filled by him begin today.

Mahama together with his legal team stormed the supreme court this morning for the commencement of the 2020 election petition filed by him.

The Supreme Court of Ghana will today begin hearings on the presidential election petition filed by John Dramani Mahama who is praying the court to order a rerun of the December 7, 2020, election between himself and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

He avers that neither him nor Nana Akufo-Addo, named as 2nd Respondent, being the two leading candidates obtained more than 50 per cent of the valid votes cast per the results declared by Jean Mensa, the EC Chairperson on 9 December.

Earlier, Mahama has petitioned the Supreme Court of Ghana for a live telecast of the election petition hearings, that request by John Mahama was granted by the supreme court to telecast the hearings live.
